The most significant challenge in developing the Omega Platform was ensuring the coherence and consistency of the projects created. To achieve this, we employed a proprietary design system called Megawatt, which was specifically designed to establish a robust visual identity while maintaining a modern and exclusive aesthetic.

Throughout the project, I had the opportunity to work across various resolutions, including PC, Tablet, and Mobile devices. Additionally, I engaged in prototyping, which played a crucial role in providing the developers with a clear understanding of the intended design and functionality.

One of the key challenges we faced was minimizing the use of modals, streamlining the application’s design, and optimizing the website’s performance. Furthermore, I contributed to the development of new components, such as icons, grids, and inputs, which were seamlessly integrated into the design system.

BUILDING AND REFINEMENT

The Megawatt was meticulously crafted from the ground up to replace the outdated design system, granting us the freedom to create components and diverse styles. Throughout this project, we engaged in numerous feedback sessions and testing sessions.

I collaborated closely with the developers and users of the platform to identify areas for improvement. During my time working on the new website, I also participated in design sessions with the other product designers on the team. Our objective was to ensure that the project was user-friendly and easy to build.

I leveraged my front-end skills to ensure that all implemented features were feasible. Once we had clearly defined our goals, we commenced the project using Mantine UI.

We organized the deliveries into Minimum Viable Products (MVPs). The most critical features were prioritized for development, enabling users to provide feedback and optimize their workflows.

Serena Energia (formerly Omega Energia) is one of Brazil’s largest renewable energy companies, focused on wind, solar, and hydro power. Beyond Brazil, it has begun international expansion with a wind park in Texas, USA. Its strategy emphasizes sustainability, affordable access to renewable energy, and positive social impact.
